Since we started in 2007, UK-TEFL has progressed to become one of the UK’s leading TEFL trainers, providing online TEFL training courses, school enrichment courses, and teacher training.

What we do at UK-TEFL

UK-TEFL provide interactive online TEFL courses, as well as classroom TEFL courses in schools across the country. Taught by exceptionally qualified trainers, our courses are suitable for everyone, from those with no prior teaching experience, to teachers wishing to dive into the world of TEFL. Here at UK-TEFL, we believe our online courses provide you with great flexibility as they are self-paced, you can choose whichever learning environment works for you and study on-the-go! We are always here to answer any questions you may have whether that be grammar or admin related.

Accreditation

UK-TEFL is a TQUK platinum-approved training centre, officially becoming an approved centre in September 2014.. TQUK is a national awarding body that is regulated by Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).

Having this endorsement is a real mark of excellence, as it shows that an external and independent body has approved the high standard of our course provision. TQUK have robust quality assurance systems and procedures in place that need to be met in order to be granted approved status.

A TQUK endorsed certificate contains a breakdown of all of the modules you have completed and gives employers worldwide an indication of the quality of training you have received. TQUK courses are given an equivalency level according to the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) level descriptors. Our 120 Hour Course is Level 2, 150 Hour Course Level 3 and 180 Hour Couse is Level 5.

  • Jess has an LLB in Law with Criminology and previously studied travel and tourism for 4 years. Jess is your go-to person for TEFL advice and helps alongside Beth with school courses.

    Fun Fact: Jess participated in a student exchange to the Netherlands for a week!

    Top Travel Tip: Always remember to pack comfortable shoes as you don’t want to get caught on a long walk in your flip flops!

  • Georgia has a BA (Hons) in Business with Marketing, and she is our Marketing and Sales Executive here at UK-TEFL. Outside of work, Georgia enjoys swimming, getting out to do her steps and spending time in her garden.

    Fun Fact: Georgia visited Niagara Falls! And found it breath-taking
    Favourite Destination: Crete
    Top Travel Tip: Pack light! You usually don’t need as much as you think you do and dragging cases around can become annoying! If you’ve packed the essentials, you’ll be fine. But make sure you leave a little room for a souvenir or two!

  • Nina has an MSc in Electronic Commence and manages all the financial and accounting aspects of UK-TEFL. When she’s not working she’s with her family enjoying swimming, going for walks in the woods and on the beach, and generally having lots of fun!

    Fun Fact: Nina once spent 4 months volunteering in schools in Ghana

    Top Travel Tip: Wake up early and avoid the crowds. That way you’ll get the best views and catch the sunrise

  • Caesar has a gold star in being well behaved. When in the office, Caesar makes sure to catch up on his sleep. Outside of work he can be found enjoying walks along the beach.

    Fun Fact: Caesar was originally named Batman due to the white spot on his chest

  • Beth has an MSc in Marketing alongside her BA in English Language. When she’s not arranging in-house TEFL courses in schools across the country, Beth can be found planning her next adventure and walking her dog, Caesar.

    Fun Fact: Beth’s first school was in South Korea

    Top Travel Tip: Plan an itinerary before you go, that way you can make sure to see everything that you want to!

  • Lauchlan is UK-TEFL’s founder, he started the company after previously working for another TEFL company. Lauchlan is an avid sailor, swimmer, paddleboarder, and runner.

    Fun Fact: Lauchlan built his own mountain bike during lockdown

Meet the Tutors

  • Nathan has a degree in Modern Languages (French and Spanish) a CELTA with Young Learner Extension, DELTA, MA in Online and Distance Learning and Post Graduate Certificate in Education. He has over 25 years’ experience of teaching, in the UK and overseas. He has worked as a Business Trainer for the British Council in Kuala Lumpur, taught Young Learners in Bahrain and military recruits in the UK. He has also delivered educational projects in Africa and South America. His research interests include making online teaching learner-centred and teaching with minimal resources. 

    Favourite Destination: Having worked in Peru a couple of times on teacher training projects, I can say that it is the most exotic place I have been. The people are so warm and friendly and just want to hold hands and dance.

    Best Foreign Cuisine: I love Arabic food, all the salads, hummous, kebab, lubna (cream cheese) and khabsa (mixed meat and rice). Just look out for the waistline!

    Top TEFL Tip: Be the guide at the side, not the sage on the stage.

Nathan

Andrea

  • Andrea has a degree in French and Spanish as well as a DELTA and PGCE. She is also a CELTA trainer and enjoys the opportunity to train teachers who wish to join the profession. She has worked primarily in France, Spain and the UK, but has travelled as far afield as Russia and Brazil to assess CELTA courses for Cambridge English. 

    Favourite Destination: Perth, Australia, as her son lives there, but Paris is a close second as it is home from home. 

    Best Foreign Cuisine: French, of course!

    Top TEFL Tip: Teach the learners, not the plan!

Polly

  • Polly is CELTA qualified and has a Post Grad Diploma in Applies Linguistics, as well as currently working towards her DELTA qualification. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Polly has taught in Japan, South Korea, China, and the UK.

    Favourite Destination: Every country I visit immediately becomes my new favourite country! I fall in love with the culture, the food and most of all, the people!
    Best Foreign Cuisine: I love Korean food best, but one of my favourite things about travelling is experiencing the amazing food each country has to offer!
    Top TEFL Tip: Do your research before you go, and try to make some connections with locals or expats online. It will help you feel secure and confident, and prepare you for the first few weeks while you settle in.

  • Meryl has a TEFL Certificate and a PGCE in Modern Languages. With over 20 years experience, Meryl has taught in France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Thailand, Peru, Madagascar and Ecuador.

    Favourite Destination: Ecuador was my favourite country, as I learnt Spanish, and was able to experience and explore a beautiful and diverse country
    Best Foreign Cuisine: My favourite Ecuadorian food was empanadas, a bit like a British pasty...I avoided the speciality of guinea pig
    Top TEFL Tip: Remember to stick to your learning objective, but be flexible in how you will achieve this adapting to the circumstances as necessary. Most importantly, make the lesson fun for both yourself and the learners!

Michelle

  • Michelle has a CELTA, DELTA,PTTLLS and MA in TESOL and has been teaching since 2005. Having worked in the UK, Poland, and the USA, Michelle is experienced in both EFL Teaching and Teacher Training.

    Favourite Destination: I am obsessed with Russia and would love to teach over there someday. I am fascinated by their rich language and history
    Best Foreign Cuisine: I love hearty German and Polish food as well as good old BBQ and Tex-Mex from my home country- USA
    Top TEFL Tip: Always bring your sense of humour to your lessons

  • Dani has a Trinity Cert TESOL, DELTA, MA in ELT (pass with distinction), and Cambridge Train the Trainer certification. Dani has worked in ELT since completing her Trinity Cert TESOL in 1998, she has worked as a teacher, trainer and materials writer. She has trained teachers face to face in South Korea, China, Pakistan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Iraq and has trained online to teachers from over 25 countries. 

    Favourite Destination: Malaysia, I experienced wonderful people and amazing food. All the places I have been have something special to offer. 

    Best Foreign Cuisine:  Middle Eastern food is delicious, I love the food in Kurdistan, the falafel is amazing. 

    Top TEFL Tip: Always reflect on the materials and ensure they are meaningful and relevant to the group of learners.
