This course is designed for students in Year 9, 10, or 11. The workshop provides students the opportunity to discover what TEFL is, and where it could take them. Students take part in fun activities designed to introduce them to the foundations of TEFL.

Polly

  • Polly is CELTA qualified and has a Post Grad Diploma in Applies Linguistics, as well as currently working towards her DELTA qualification. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Polly has taught in Japan, South Korea, China, and the UK.

    Favourite Destination: Every country I visit immediately becomes my new favourite country! I fall in love with the culture, the food and most of all, the people!
    Best Foreign Cuisine: I love Korean food best, but one of my favourite things about travelling is experiencing the amazing food each country has to offer!
    Top TEFL Tip: Do your research before you go, and try to make some connections with locals or expats online. It will help you feel secure and confident, and prepare you for the first few weeks while you settle in.

Meryl

  • Meryl has a TEFL Certificate and a PGCE in Modern Languages. With over 20 years experience, Meryl has taught in France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Thailand, Peru, Madagascar and Ecuador.

    Favourite Destination: Ecuador was my favourite country, as I learnt Spanish, and was able to experience and explore a beautiful and diverse country
    Best Foreign Cuisine: My favourite Ecuadorian food was empanadas, a bit like a British pasty...I avoided the speciality of guinea pig
    Top TEFL Tip: Remember to stick to your learning objective, but be flexible in how you will achieve this adapting to the circumstances as necessary. Most importantly, make the lesson fun for both yourself and the learners!

  • Michelle has a CELTA, DELTA,PTTLLS and MA in TESOL and has been teaching since 2005. Having worked in the UK, Poland, and the USA, Michelle is experienced in both EFL Teaching and Teacher Training.

  • Dani has a Trinity Cert TESOL, DELTA, MA in ELT (pass with distinction), and Cambridge Train the Trainer certification. Dani has worked in ELT since completing her Trinity Cert TESOL in 1998, she has worked as a teacher, trainer and materials writer. She has trained teachers face to face in South Korea, China, Pakistan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Iraq and has trained online to teachers from over 25 countries. 

    Favourite Destination: Malaysia, I experienced wonderful people and amazing food. All the places I have been have something special to offer. 

    Best Foreign Cuisine:  Middle Eastern food is delicious, I love the food in Kurdistan, the falafel is amazing. 

    Top TEFL Tip: Always reflect on the materials and ensure they are meaningful and relevant to the group of learners.

Nathan

  • Nathan has a degree in Modern Languages (French and Spanish) a CELTA with Young Learner Extension, DELTA, MA in Online and Distance Learning and Post Graduate Certificate in Education. He has over 25 years’ experience of teaching, in the UK and overseas. He has worked as a Business Trainer for the British Council in Kuala Lumpur, taught Young Learners in Bahrain and military recruits in the UK. He has also delivered educational projects in Africa and South America. His research interests include making online teaching learner-centred and teaching with minimal resources. 

    Favourite Destination: Having worked in Peru a couple of times on teacher training projects, I can say that it is the most exotic place I have been. The people are so warm and friendly and just want to hold hands and dance.

    Best Foreign Cuisine: I love Arabic food, all the salads, hummous, kebab, lubna (cream cheese) and khabsa (mixed meat and rice). Just look out for the waistline!

    Top TEFL Tip: Be the guide at the side, not the sage on the stage.

Andrea

  • Andrea has a degree in French and Spanish as well as a DELTA and PGCE. She is also a CELTA trainer and enjoys the opportunity to train teachers who wish to join the profession. She has worked primarily in France, Spain and the UK, but has travelled as far afield as Russia and Brazil to assess CELTA courses for Cambridge English. 

    Favourite Destination: Perth, Australia, as her son lives there, but Paris is a close second as it is home from home.

WHO ARE UK-TEFL? 

We are the UK’s leading TEFL trainers. We have gained many years’ experience in the English teaching profession and all members of our dedicated training team have a minimum of three years’ post-qualification, overseas English teaching experience. Our management team has been involved in TEFL training for well over a decade.

WHO ARE UK-TEFL ENDORSED BY?

UK-TEFL is a platinum Approved Training Qualifications UK (TQUK) Centre. TQUK is a national awarding body and is regulated by Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).

HOW MANY STUDENTS CAN ATTEND A COURSE?

For our classroom courses, we require a minimum of 8 students. We would recommend a class size of no larger than 21 students, so that each students get the best experience possible. We can accommodate larger student cohorts of 21+ by running a number of separate groups.

For our online courses, we do not require a minimum number of students.

WHAT AGE IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?

We would recommend students aged between 13 - 16 take part in our TEFL Experience Workshop.

We would recommend those aged 16+ (sixth form students) take or our 1 Day Classroom Course, 2 Day Certified Classroom Course, and our Interactive Online TEFL Course.

Our teacher training courses are for teachers aged 18+.

DO THE STUDENTS NEED TO BE STUDYING ENGLISH A LEVEL?

No, but we recommend that students have achieved (or predicted) GCSE English (grade A*-C).

WHAT WILL THE STUDENTS NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE?

All students will need to bring is a pen and paper to take notes.

WHAT DOES THE SCHOOL NEED TO PROVIDE?

For our classroom courses, all we’ll need is a classroom, flipcharts and pens.

For our online courses, students will need access to a computer room, or tablets (unless the course is to completed at home).

WHAT ARE THE TIMINGS OF THE COURSE?

Our classroom courses generally run 9am-5pm each day, but can be adapted to suit your school’s needs.

Students will have 24/7 access to the online course. Schools often schedule course completion as part of a weekly enrichment slot.

ARE ALL TRAINERS DBS CHECKED?

Yes, all trainers hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate.

HOW CAN I ARRANGE A TEFL COURSE AT MY SCHOOL?

WILL UK-TEFL SUPPLY PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS?

We supply you with electronic flyers and a template letter for both students and their guardians. We can also send through some physical flyers (on request). All advertising materials are free of charge. You can also book in an assembly slot for a UK-TEFL representative to promote the course (availability dependent).

DOES A SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVE NEED TO BE ON SITE?

We ask that a school representative is there on day one to meet and greet your trainer.

CAN TEACHERS JOIN THE UK-TEFL COURSE?

Yes! Teachers, parents, students and anyone with an interest in TEFL can attend the course at your school. You can advertise to other local schools that you may be in partnership with as well.

WHAT IS THE PAYMENT PROCESS?

Once you have the minimum number of 8 students confirmed, we can then send across your booking form to get the dates confirmed with your trainer. At this point your school will be invoiced for the deposit amount (8 students) for your chosen course type. An alternative option is for your school to be supplied with an online link where students can pay for their course individually with their debit/credit card.
