ESL/EAL Support Training for Teachers

UK-TEFL run ESL/EAL student support courses for teachers in schools across the UK. Our courses are taught by exceptional trainers, all with extensive experience in teaching EFL in the UK and overseas.

This course aims to help support teachers with ESL and EAL students in their class, looking at the challenges these students face when studying different subjects in English and how you can support and help them with their language learning. Choose between our e-learning or classroom course.

E-Learning Course:
ESL/EAL Support Training for Teachers

Created to support EAL students, this course is designed to cover all the content included in our private classroom teacher training, but completed as a self-study course. Choose when and where you complete the course, enabling you to fit in study around busy timetables and other commitments.

£90 per person

    1. Module 1 – Who’s in your classroom. Looking at the makeup of your classroom, your learner profile and the challenges you face when EAL/ESL students are expected to study in the same class as students who speak English fluently.

    2. Module 2 – Challenges EAL learners face in the classroom. Myth-busting - understanding concepts vs understanding the language.

    3. Module 3 – Classroom Management. Looking at the importance of embedding EAL strategies and techniques into the learning content.

    4. Module 4 – Teaching Vocabulary. Exploring vocabulary tiers within the classroom.

    5. Module 5 – Teaching Grammar. A look at some of the key grammar areas.

    6. Module 6 – Pronunciation. We will consider some of the problem sounds in English and how we can help your students understand and pronounce correctly.

    7. Module 7 - Receptive and Productive Skills. In addition to grammar and vocabulary, your students will also need to master the 4 skills in English so this module will look at what resources we can use and how to help them achieve this.
