Responsibilities and Duties
Welcome new international students to the centre, show them around and get to know them.
Assist students in their classes (these may be English or subject-based classes depending on the programme).
Help students practice for spoken English exams.
Participate in a wide range of sports, activities and evening entertainments.
Share a bedroom or sleep in a single room on the same corridor as other students.
Go on two excursions each week; sharing British culture and local know-how.
Set an excellant example by always following Discovery Summer rules and by helping whenever you can.
Mix with the international students at every possible opportunity.
Attend daily feedback meetings with your House Parent.
Wear a discovery Summer blue T-shirt to be easily recognised.
Benefits

Included in the scholarship: Full board, accommodation and an action packed programme of activities and excursions.
A huge variety of indoor and outdoor sports and activities including art & design, dance, circus skills, ceilidhs, discos, ukulele & steel drums.
Excursions may include a West End Musical, theme parks as well as many places of historical and cultural interest e.g Birmingham, Liverpool, London & Oxford.
Programmes are hosted in quality independent schools.
You have the opportunity to develop new skills as you support international students.
You will receive support by staff who will ensure you understand your role and answer any questions you may have.
Counts as a residential placement for the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
The experience and skills you accumulate will make you stand out on your CV and to universities.
Qualifications and Skills
British and/or living in the UK.
Of native level of English.
Aged between 15-17 years old.
Available for 1 or 2 consecutive weeks in the summer (including weekends).
Friendly and confident - this is an intensely social role.
Self-assured and comfortable spending time away.
Responsible - Student Hosts always lead by example.
Resilient - Student Hosts need to have appropriate maturity and ‘can do’ attitude.
Beneficial to have a TEFL certificate.
